Appointments can conveniently be scheduled either by phone or online through our HotDoc system.
Typically, standard appointments are allocated a duration of 15 minutes. However, we also offer longer appointment slots for specific needs. This includes new patients, as well as individuals presenting multiple or complex health concerns, those requiring comprehensive health assessments, or those needing to create care plans.
For urgent matters that arise suddenly, same-day appointments can be arranged upon request, ensuring that you receive prompt medical care when you need it most. We provide flexibility with the option for both face-to-face consultations and telephone appointments, catering to varying preferences and needs.
It is important to note that appointments are necessary for all inquiries, including but not limited to prescriptions, referrals, and the completion of various medical forms. Our dedicated medical team consistently strives to keep to the scheduled appointment times. Nevertheless, there may be instances of unavoidable delays due to emergency situations or other unforeseen circumstances. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience in these moments.
We kindly ask that, as a courtesy to our doctors and to fellow patients who are looking to secure an appointment, you notify us as soon as you are aware that you will not be able to attend your scheduled appointment. Please call the practice at your earliest convenience to inform us of your cancellation. It's important to note that if you cancel your appointment within 2 hours of its scheduled time, or if you arrive significantly late past the appointment time, this will result in a non-attendance fee or, in some cases, removal from our practice. All consultations conducted with Dr. Penelope Aligiannis, including but not limited to telephone consultations, recall appointments, prescription renewals, and referrals, are subject to a private fee structure. For your convenience, a detailed list outlining our fees is readily available on our website. It's important to note that these fees may be subject to change over time, so we encourage you to check periodically. The fees we charge are based on the actual time spent with either the doctor or the nurse during your appointment, rather than the time reserved for your consultation.
For those with a Medicare card, a rebate is applicable and is determined solely by the time spent with the doctor, excluding any time with nursing staff, for consultations that are covered under Medicare. Furthermore, additional rebates are accessible for patients who are registered with Dr. Aligiannis through the MyMedicare system, providing further assistance for your healthcare costs.
Please be aware that telephone consultation rebates are specifically limited to eligible patients who have visited the practice in person within the last 12 months or are registered with MyMedicare. Additionally, certain types of consultations—including intravenous infusions, nurse-only appointments, commercial driving medicals, and the completion of non-government forms—are not covered by Medicare and will incur a private fee that is not eligible for any rebate.
It is also important to highlight that services related to workers’ compensation and third-party claims are not covered by Medicare. Therefore, a fee is required to be paid on the same day of your consultation, until your insurance provider approves the claim. When you schedule your appointment, we kindly ask that you confirm with our reception team about any fees that may be due on the day of your visit to avoid any surprises.
For your convenience, Your Padstow Doctors Plus accepts a wide range of payment methods, including cash, direct debit, EFTPOS, credit card, or through the HotDoc app, with surcharges applicable when using the HotDoc app for payments. Additionally, Medicare rebates can be conveniently processed through our Easyclaim EFTPOS facility, making it easier for you to manage your healthcare expenses.
At our practice, we prioritise the well-being of our patients and strive to accommodate their needs whenever possible. Where it is safe and reasonable to do so, we are pleased to offer home visits during our normal practice hours for our regular patients who live within a 5km radius. This service is specifically designed for those patients who, due to severe illness or other significant health issues, are unable to attend the practice in person.
Please note that there is a private fee associated with home visits, which helps us to maintain the quality of care you receive. While we are happy to provide this service, our clinical team generally prefers that all patients come to the practice for their appointments whenever feasible. Attending the practice allows our patients to benefit from the full range of appropriate medical equipment and support available, ensuring they receive the best possible care. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide the highest standard of healthcare for all our patients.
